Have you ever planted a flower garden or vegetable garden?
I have and somethimes it's very discouraging. I spent time making sure the soil was worked and ready and planted the seeds carefully and waited and waited to have absolutely nothing come up. Yet the birds drop seeds and I get the most beautiful sun flowers and you should have seen the Morning Glories they planted for me. Maybe you will--I think I'll put the picture on for you to see.
Anyhow, back to what I was telling you. If you've ever planted things then you will have some understanding of the story I'm going to share with you.
But if you havent - that's ok. The story comes directly from the Bible and it's about a farmer who is planting his fields.
I wanted Morning Glories so badly, I bought packets and packets multi-colored Morning Glory seeds. If you've ever planted packets of seeds you know that there are MANY seeds in a packet. I worked the soil and carefully planted the seeds. I carefully watered them. And ... I got the sickest looking morning glories on the trellis I built by hand to display them.
Several feet away I notices some vines beginning to grow. So I purchased a cheap arched trellis and stood it there.
You guessed it, the morning glories which were pure white in color grew so thick it was difficult for the trellis to stand up under the weight.
As with planting seeds of Faith
We can prepare, and we shoud know what we are talking about and believe it with every fiber of our being.
We may share this information with person after person without ever knowng the outcome. If we aren't careful we can even become discouraged because it may not seem that our hard work is yielding ANYTHING. But wait, the yield of the crop not our responsibility. Jesus told us about it in a parable. Some people think parables are difficult to understand but look at this one..."the parable of the farmer" and remember how much better his birds did with the Morning Glory's.
