More about learning to have FUN...
It was only a few years ago that a friend and I were challenged to do something that was fun. Our lives had been very different and yet both of our lives had been so busy and tramatic that we found ourselves sitting there just looking at one another.
Our minds had gone totally blank! We hadn't done anything FUN in so long, we truly didn't have any idea what we were to do. We had both been simply - going through the motions of living.
- We could go to a movie, but movies didn't seem be be funny any more.
- We could go shopping. Shopping used to be fun.
- But now...we only went shopping because it was what we needed to do, purchasing only what was absolutely necessary. Finances for both of us were extreemly limited.
- We attended gatherings where other people were laughing and we weren't.
Why, what did they find so funny that we weren't experiencing?
They seemed so joyful. We were both feeling so worn, almost crushed...that was the center of our problem . . . . our JOY was gone.
Well now that we've located the problem ** loss of JOY ** just how to overcome it?????
Another time I'll share some of the things we did to get our JOY back but for now, here are a few suggestions. Some are inexpensive, some are free and then others you may need to work into your budget:
Suggestions:
You could adopt a pet, or get a fish. I know of a fish that likes to come to the glass when you rub your thumb along the side of the fish bowl. The fish acts as though it's getting its' back scratched through the glass!
Pets are curious - when we've forgotten the joy of being curious!
they can cause you to chuckle,
who knows...maybe even laugh out loud!
I adopted the goofy dog in these pictures. Her name is Cutie. She had been turned into the Humane League. She was a mess when I got her. Amazing, what a bath and a new hair-do are able to do for a dog as well as a woman!
She loves me, causes me to laugh even when I don't feel like laughing and she keeps me company. She has a stool beside my chair at the computer. Even now, while I'm working on this page-she's here
